FIRES!!!

In reference to our discussion in class today, please discuss why or why not you think a fire should be considered a natural disaster! Be specific!

(to the right is a picture of the sun at 2:00pm in Santa Clarita, Ca.
before the fire began, it was clear, sunny day with bright blue sky)

Hi
I think that a fire is not a natrual disaster because if a you were smoking and you throw it out side and it catchs to leaves and tree's then you started a fire.Or if you lit a match then you started it.That is what I think.Oh Ms.Sonne are you going to put a new math challenge!

Well i THINK a fire isn't a natural disaster because most of the time it is made by something involving MAN

like:
Shards of Glass
cigarettes
Outdoor Grill
gas from a car etc.

like you said A fire could be a "NATURAL" disaster if lightning strikes a tree or something

Well I think that a fire isn't a natural disaster because most of the time it is because of cigarettes. Other thing that could make fires that are man made are glass, gas, cablelines that have electricty. I think those are the things that can MAKE a fire

See you in class.

I think that a fire is not a natural disaster...I think that because a fire can be started with anything a stove left on,cigarettes, gas. SEE YOU TOMORROW AT SCHOOL.

has anyone looked up the definition of a "natural disaster" check on wikipedia and see what the definition says...it might change your mind as to whether or not fire is considered a natural disaster

well this is what wiki says a 'Natural' Fire is its pretty much what we said:

An uncontrolled fire burning in wildland areas. Common causes include lightning and drought but wildfires may also be started by human negligence or arson. They can be a threat to those in rural areas and also wildlife. Wildfires can also produce ember attacks, where floating embers set fire to buildings at a distance from the fire itself.

What about the pollution caused by the fire? How much pollution does a fire cause?

Do we really need to worry about pollution if one fire will produce more pollution than we can in 1 year??

I don't think a fire is a natural disaster because you can start a fire. If you left the stove on for a very long time you could create a fire but it is not considered a natural disaster because it is not natural.

That much pollution caused by the fire can cause a lot of global warming! IT can rise sea level1

Honestly I think these fires were man made. There wasn't a drought or lightning storm. So a big meanie did this.
